Those living in the Government Reserved Area of Ikeja, Lagos State, have begged  the Lagos State government to listen to their plea and assist them to tackle all the loses they have had because of the actions of some persons.
The association which is the GRA Ikeja Residents association GRAIRA, complained that there are some persons who own lands in the area that put up buildings where there are not meant to be such buildings thereby disrupting the initial plan of the area. They are of the opinion that this is the outcome of  regulatory bodies that are supposed to handle such occurrences, neglecting and being nonchalant about their duties.
During one of the Stakeholders meeting captioned ‘’Restoration Journey’’, the residents cried out that the original GRA Master Plan has been disrupted to a very large extent and this was not what the residents signed up for. Dr Muiz Banire (SAN) the president of the GRAIRA who was also the former Commissioner for the Environment implored the government to come to the aid of the residents and correct the damage that has been done.
Dr Muiz Banire noted that the residents have taken a step in the right direction by complaining to the right authorities and that the burden is on their shoulders to correct this wrong and bring back order to the area. He equally added that the rightful authorities already collected inter-development charges from all the developers and that this money is supposed to be used for the betterment of the area but that has not been what is obtainable.  Not just have the plans been disrupted and the infrastructures not maintained, but motorcyclists and keke Napeps do not obey the 2012 Lagos State Traffic Laws and this is threatening the serenity of the area.
In like manner, Chairman of the GRA Association Mr Akin Ademosu who is the Chairman of the GRAIRA implored the residents not to keep quiet but to continue to lay their complaints until appropriate action is taken.
The General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency LASBCA, Engineer lekan Olasehinde urged the residents to keep on doing the right thing by complaining to the right authorities until favorable action is taken.
